The Most Delicious Flavor of All

It's here!  The new taste sensation sweeping the third grade!

No, I'm not talking about cherry flavoring that's so tasty that kids are willing to overlook the fact that it's actually attached to medicine.  Though, a couple of sprays of cherry Chloraseptic was certainly a big hit a few years ago.

And nope, not watermelon slices either.  Those had their heyday the year that they fetched $5 per bag on the behind-the-cubbies-black-market, and have since dwindled in popularity.

Falementines were all the rage back in the day, but once word got out that they're actually called clementines, their appeal ebbed sharply.

This year, the hot snack item is......family size-flavored Cheez-Its.

Nathaniel was eying the snack selection the other day, and made up his mind that he would put in a request for the Cheez-Its that had been calling out to him all morning, tempting him with their bright red box and large-font label information.

"Can we have the Cheez-Its today?  I don't care if they're family size.....or cheddar cheese....or...." he trailed off, having made his case for the cheesy crackers, and having proved that he would be more than happy with any flavor at all.

"That one box that says 'Cheddar Cheese'--delicious, and I will gladly take those.  That other box with the label, 'Family Size' --equally delicious, and I would be totally satisfied to eat that flavor as well."

I have to give it to him, Cheez-Its are particularly enticing, and family size is definitely a tasty flavoring.  Any of you out there who may be in the marketing business, make a note - if you can make your product look tasty enough, you can put anything at all on the box and kids will want it.  Though I'm sure anyone who markets to children is already well aware of this phenomenon.

Nathaniel just wanted those Cheez-Its in any way, shape, or form he could get them.  I suspect he would even have eaten economy size-flavor.

From Liz: Your opening lines remind me of the time Alice (then age four) was finally allowed to try a much coveted piece of bubble gum. "Ugh!" she said, spitting it out after just a few chews. "It tastes like medicine!" (This after years of taking "Bubble Gum Flavored" ibuprofen.)
